I have spent much of my professional life as a secondary English teacher working in a range of schools with different levels of responsibility. In addition to teaching, I have worked for The London Leadership Strategy (part of the London Challenge) and lectured for the Institute of Education.
Leading teams and working with lots of people in different contexts taught me the importance of being able to reflect, communicate and understand the impact of your own behaviour. This eventually led me to establish Fiona Dorman Training. I have since worked with a wide variety of schools, charities, small businesses and religious institutions
I also write for resource publications, practice as a mediator and have lately enjoyed working as the Education officer for Bristol Cathedral.
This has led me to acquire accreditations with a psychometric testing tool (C-me colour profiling), coaching (The Coaching Academy) and gain a mediation qualification (OCN London).
Using these accreditations, I have developed and led leadership and communications workshops for large school groups such as the North Somerset Teaching and Learning Alliance and several multi-academy trusts in the South West, London and the South East of England. I also work with international schools, third sector organisations, church leadership teams and small businesses.

“Lots of really practical advice from Fiona, from someone who clearly
knows what she's talking about."
"Fiona is fantastic - a true practitioner and very competent as a presenter.
This session needs to be delivered by her to all new HODs."
"The bespoke session was really excellent and relevant. The speaker was
actually a current teacher too so she understood the challenges of
various approaches and what teaching is like right now. As a more shy/
introvert subject lead it was also great to hear her discuss how successful
introvert leaders can be which gave me a confidence boost. She also
recommended a book aimed at introvert leaders which I have already
ordered."
"Chance to hear from someone who really knew what they were talking about.”
North Somerset Teaching Alliance (NSTA)
“Fiona’s second session allowed me to better understand myself, acknowledging how I have grown since the last session and to consider my current leadership."
"The workshop offered me the chance to move forward to implications for the team at a time when we're reviewing the improvement plan for next year."
"I was able to reflect on my leadership style, and thinking about how this may affect the relationships within my team, and how different situations will require different strategies."
"Learning about how I was perceived by other staff was revealing. Fiona encouraged me to be very reflective about this and this has encouraged me to experiment with taking different approaches towards dealing with staff.”
Wellsway MAT (Multi Academy Trust)
“Fiona is one of our most experienced and intuitive accredited facilitators. She helps others powerfully explore their reports for enhanced understanding of themselves and their teams.”
Sonia Home (CEO) C-me colour profiling
“I firmly believe that in order to be effective leaders, we need to know ourselves and understand the strengths and weaknesses of those we lead. Working with C-Me has given us a language to use that is clear and simple. Fiona was friendly and fun as well as being professional and perceptive. I would highly recommend her.”
